Day V: NC

Asheville, NC

Today was a fucking bomb ass day. I really like Asheville, and I really like this college. It's real (cliche, I know) green and environmentally friendly. Warren Wilson holds fewer than 900 students, and their campus includes a farm, a river, gardens and gardens, pigs.. a goat.. chickens.. lilies.. compost piles and recycling stations. It's pretty self sustained. Makes me excited.

I woke up at around 10am with the pooch and took a little walk around. My eye is feeling betta, but I still look like a freakin' tard. When Bea woke up we went with Brittany and had some chow down at the school's cafeteria. She then gave us a tour of the place, and after watching them- I think Mango and the school's goat are in love. So cute. I didn't have batteries in my camera, so there aren't any pics. Not today, at least.

Sara got back from work and we met her in her dorm room, chillaxed, and then piled into the car to Asheville. I mean, we're in a city called Swannanoa.. but it's basically Asheville. So we drove into the city (making a pitstop to get batteries and ice cream and sorbetto). The city has a great vibe. I like.

First thing we ran into were these three guys playing music in front of a restaurant:

They said they were from Amsterdam, but spoke really good English and said they were in Nashville, Tennessee for 10 years. I don't know. Anyways, one guy had a banjo, another had a drum pedal against a plastic gallon bucket, and the third had a broomstick in another bucket with a string attached- kind of like a makeshift bass. They were playing real folky, uplifted and jumpy kind of music.. real intriguing. So, we stayed and watched. Bea and Sara sat down while Mango and I played with this beautiful puppy tied to a bench (who we later found out belonged to the three guys playing). His name's Rocco, and him and Mango love to hump. LOVE to hump. Front, back, side to side. Out of control.

Sara's friend Grace is having a birthday party tonight up in the mountains at someone's house. We figured we'd stay here for another night and head down to Charleston tomorrow after we hang out in the river.

Bea and Sara convinced the three guys and their dog to come to Grace's party tonight, and right now I'm sitting here while we're waiting for the guys to come meet us at the college at around nine. Annyywayyssss.. should be fun. They seemed fun, I guess. The "drummer" had a neck surface piercing and a nose-bridge piercing, and ears, and holes, and lalala. The banjo-er had strange hair, and the bassist was real tall. That's all I remember. They were nice natured, so we'll see what happens tonight.

Oh, this is them:

After that was a bunch of art viewing,

chocolate tasting,

and dog walking.

Everyone loves Mango. Everyone- old ladies and young little boys alike love stopping to pet this four-legged lap dog. He's quickly learning "sit" but only does it when he wants to, or when he thinks he's getting a treat. Brat. Lovely stinkin' brat. Love him.

We drove back, I showered and am eating Oreos. I want to put contacts in, but I know I shouldn't. I haven't worn a bra at all in the last two days and it feels great.

Okay, party time.
