Day III: VA

Richmond, VA

I slept pretty much most of today. My eye doesn't feel any better. It sucks. The rest of the day was spent watching Mango and Spaghetti (the people we're staying with have a 15 week old cat, I think I mentioned this yesterday). They're adorable together.

At night, at around 8 or 9 or so, Nick came home from work. We rode our bikes (I brought Mango in my bag) to this cafe where I had a Peach smoothie and some delicious sweet potato mushy stuff. Mango pooped in the outside area, and I ate Nick's tomatoes that he neglected.

We then went to this bar called Mulligan's where there was live music.. somewhere. We walked around back and up some stairs searching for where the band was playing (because it sounded like they were playing outside). Turns out they were playing on the roof area, and a door we found at the top of those stairs led to the stage area. Hah! Imagine if we opened the door and waltzed on through. The band was okay. The lead guitarist was amazing, though. A couple PBRs later a man came up to me and told me that the dog couldn't stay. I told him he was a service dog in training, and he asked for a note or an ID. I told him you legally didn't need to carry a note around, and he said that his mom had a service dog and so he knew the law inside and out. I said, well.. what kind of note do you need? He told me I needed a doctor's note stating that I needed a service dog with me. I told him that I didn't need a service dog with me, I was just training him.. so that didn't make sense. (Keep in mind we were smiling and having a nice conversation all the while, not a bristled and mean argument.) He said that his mother carried around a doctor's note, and asked what I was training the dog for. I told him that I was training Mango to help out with people who are agoraphobic- afraid of public places. Dogs who help out with those social kinds of issues are trained to never leave their owner's side, and help calm their owner down in overwhelming situations.

We still had to leave, but it was a good conversation.. and I learned how much of a smooth talker I can be. Maybe not such a good thing, but.. hey, it happens.

A couple more things:
-I ran out of batteries for my camera.
-I've worn these shorts for the past week.
-I'm hungry.
-Richmond isn't all that bad.

Ta ta for now,
-S
