Day II: DC and VA

Washington, D.C.

Copied from my Journal entry on July 16th, at 12:46 pm:

"My flippin' eyeball hurts so much. I can barely even open it and it's swollen and red. Ugh. Anyways, last night was great. After setting off a bunch of illegal fireworks we went to the "Echo Cave" on our bikes. It's the Canadian Embassy, I think, and there's this really cool echo chamber thang that's.. well, just like it sounds. There's also a little wading pool (not for wading in) surrounding the domed area. Mango was crazy! Didn't know where all the voices were coming from, and when I went into the water and hid behind a cement pillow he leaped into the water (from a ledge) and tried to save me. Keep in mind Mango doesn't like the water one bit. It was great; I felt loved. Mango also got into the garbage outside this morning and so I had to give him an impromptu bath in Welch's sink. Right now he's trying to lick the pen as I write, hah! Love him. I feel like this journal is mosly a documentary of my dog, buttt.. oh wells. Watermelon time! Out- S."

So we went out to "Sticky Fingers" (an all vegan delicious dessert cafe dealio) and Bea and I got water because we're not looking to spend all our money on overpriced delicacies.

Then I went to CVS to get some eye drops (my eye doctor said that I probably have an eye infection). It took forever, and the management was really rude about the whole thing. I was flustered because I was in pain and real uncomfortable, and.. well, it was just a really bad ordeal overall.

Richmond, VA

On the way there we got off on an exit to get gas, but ended up in a Marine Corps outpost station, or base-thing. U-Turn!

Careful, after you pass Richmond on I-95 there's a paper mill, and boy! do they stank. Why? Do they make paper out of rancid cow poop or something, cause DANG it stanks.

We're staying with some of Bea's friends in this real cute part of Richmond. So far it's just been us sitting, sleeping, hanging out with Mango and their 15 week old kitten, and watching VH1. I really hate going outside because it's so bright and really irritates my eye, which sucks.. because there's lots to do outside. Fortunately, Bea doesn't mind sitting here watching VH1 on their enormous projector screen with me while I sleep and recuperate.

She's been eating wings (so south!), and I've been eating flavored ice and pb & j. So far the southern cupboards aren't too vegan-friendly.. but then again, we're not all that far south yet.

See ya,
-S
