Day IV: VA and NC

Richmond, VA

Bea had Mac N' Cheese for breakfast- I had a PB and J sandwich. We waited for Nick to get home, and left at around 12:30pm. No biggie.

Summerfield, NC

We stopped for a little bit in this tiny farm town in North Carolina at Bea's friend Carrie Raper's house. Mango had the time of his life exploring and chasing butterflies on their enormous lot, and Bea and I had a great time exploring the inside of Carrie's home. Their architecture is astounding. Carrie's parents designed and built their home, and it's as original as can be. There's a shit ton of windows and an absence of doors. Everything is connected, and beautiful.. and.. Bea and I pretty much want to move in. They have a lake in their backyard for goodness sakes!

So we made pasta there, ate, printed out driving directions to our next stop, and said goodbye.

Asheville, NC

Love this town. They say it's a "wrinkle in the Bible belt" of the South.

Poor Bea. She drove the whole way (about 3 hours) after driving from Richmond to Summerfield already. What a trooper. So we arrive in Asheville at around 11pm- Bea's friend Sara Slaughter is going to school at this great college called Warren Wilson College. We arrived at night, so it was kind of scary driving along the windy and dark roads looking for street signs. (Btw, I still have no idea how we found this place. After getting off Route 40 it was a bunch of "I think this is the sharp right!" and "Fuck it, let's just keep making donuts.") Lot's of laughs, lemme tell ya. Once we got here, we crashed. Hard. On the sofa's in the common room- which are right in front of the door to the outside of the dorm. Mango stayed with me on the couch all night long, which was nice. I mean, we had the usual 5am and 9am wake-up potty times, but everything else was smooth sailing.

p.s. I can see the stars.
